Peppa Pig - Gakki wo hikou

 みなさん、こんにちは!

このペッパピッグのエピソードはかわくてみじかかったです。Mommy and Daddy Pig go through the attic and find a box of instruments to show George and Peppa. Mommy Pig demonstrates the violin, and Peppa concludes that it is a hard instrument to play after trying it herself (she is really bad at it). She finds she enjoys playing the drums, and Daddy Pig picks up his old accordion and serenades everyone. George struggles with the accordion, and then the horn is introduced. Mommy Pig, Peppa, and Daddy Pig cannot make it sound correct, but then George tries and does a great job playing it! The family band happily marches outside.

There were lots of noun + adjective combos in this episode, such as "ふるいはこ" (old box). I was happy to see that even though we have not necessarily studied vocabulary related to musical instruments, I am able to recognize and learn them when I see visuals, which is something that はなぶさ先生 said was helpful about the tadoku class.

Peppa Pig - Guai ga warui no

みなさん、こんばんは!

こんばん、ペッパピッグのプログラムをみました。このエピソードちょっとはかなしかった。Peppa is sick with spots on her face during this episode. The family puts her to bed and calls Dr. Brown Bear, who gives her some gross medicine and assures her that she is not contagious and can have visitors. Suzy Sheep, clad in her nurse outfit, brings Danny and Rebecca to see Peppa. They cater to all of her needs and try to make her feel better, as good friends do.

I thought it was hilarious that "spots" were called "ポツポツ." In addition, I recognized the command "open," or あけて。In this episode I learned あらまあ、which is a casual way to say "oh dear." I am enjoying consuming media like TV shows and books to absorb and learn different phrases and onomatopoeia/sounds. This is the sort of Japanese learning and knowledge that is not in the classroom setting. :)
