はじめまして!

みなさん、こんばんは (hello everyone)! My name is Anna Prest (プレストアナ), and I am a freshman in Ryan Hall. I am a member of Navy ROTC and Baraka Bouts. I lived in Japan for two years during middle school and studied Japanese both in-school and in an immersive setting (traveling around the mainland, competing on an international school swim team, and exchanging with Japanese school students). Sadly, I haven't been able to use my Japanese much since coming back to the States, so I look forward to diving back into it and hopefully returning to Japan during study abroad and after graduation when I'm in the Navy. My favorite activities are reading and working out!

    1. I lived in Atsugi, about 30 minutes outside of Tokyo! Visiting Hiroshima and the A-bomb memorials was probably my favorite travel experience :)

    1. It was sometimes hard to communicate but I had so much fun experiencing what their school day was like and showing them around my school. I found that even when we couldn't communicate precisely, when we studied things like science or played sports together, everyone understood :)

  4. My cousin is in the Marines and he's been stationed at Okinawa for a couple of years. He really likes it and I'm jealous that he gets to live there. I hope you get to return to Japan again with the Navy!

  6. Hi Anna! I think it's interesting that athletics was such a big part of your time in Japan. I created five workout plans based on anime for the health and fitness club I led in high school, and I have always been curious about how the fitness and sports culture in Japan compares to that of the US.
